Here We Go Again
Kristin Anderson (NY)
The playground, a place familiar and universal, each playground toy
cycles from serene to lively, each at its own pace. The entire piece
symbolizes the patterns that are formed in each of us during childhood
and reappear throughout life; good and bad habits, the types of people
that are drawn to us and that we are drawn to, the frustrations and
elations that seem more and more familiar each year. These patterns
are semi-interrelated, but often cycle at different paces, resulting
in a unique (im)balance every year. Even if all are under control
(or out of control), it is temporary. Shown together, the resulting
effect has qualities of both a game and a machine, humorous, melancholy
and endless.
